Planning a photo session can feel overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time. Whether you’re booking a family shoot, engagement session, or personal branding portraits, knowing what to expect can make the experience smooth, fun, and memorable. Here’s a quick guide to help you prepare — and get the most out of your session!
1. Let’s Talk Location
We’ll pick a spot that reflects your vibe — beachy and relaxed, urban and bold, or natural and earthy. Don’t worry, I have a location guide with all the best spots (and insider tips on lighting, parking, and more).
2. Outfit Tips
Choose outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. Stick to neutral tones or soft patterns that complement your location. Bring layers or accessories to switch up the look easily. (Yes, I’ll help you with this too!)
3. What to Bring
Water, comfy shoes (if we’re walking), any props you’d love to incorporate, and maybe a snack or two if kiddos are involved. Bonus: bring a blanket for cozy sitting shots or outfit changes in nature.
4. How the Session Flows
We’ll warm up with some easy poses, then move into more natural, candid moments. I’ll guide you every step of the way — no need to worry about “what to do with your hands.”
5. After the Shoot
You’ll get a sneak peek within a few days, and your full gallery will be ready in about 2-3 weeks at most (depending on the session type). The gallery will be emailed to you to download onto your phone or computer. For downloading the entire gallery it is usually easier to do that on the computer vs your phone. It can take a while and it takes up a lot of room as well.
Your session isn’t just about photos — it’s about capturing a moment, a vibe, and memories you’ll love forever. If you’re ready to book or want to chat ideas, let’s connect!
